June is Pride month and Apple typically celebrates the occasion by launching an accessory or new feature. This year, many Pride parades and gatherings have been canceled due to COVID-19, but Apple continued the tradition by launching two Pride-themed bands for Apple Watch.
First, there's the Pride Edition Sport Band, which looks very similar to the Pride-themed bands Apple launched back in 2016. And then there's the new Apple Watch Nike Pride Edition Sport Band, marking the first time Nike has joined Apple in launching a Pride-themed band for the Watch.
Both bands match their respective Pride Watch faces, which are coming "soon" on watchOS 6.2.5.
"Through this effort, Apple and Nike are proud to support LGBTQ organizations doing vital advocacy and community-building worldwide, including GLSEN, PFLAG, The Trevor Project, Gender Spectrum, The National Center for Transgender Equality, and ILGA World, which brings together more than 1,500 member organizations in more than 150 countries and regions," Apple said in a blog post.
Apple has annually launched rainbow-colored Pride bands for the Watch over the past few years.
The new bands are available now at Apple's website, in the Apple Store app, as well as in Apple stores. Both the Pride Edition Sport Band and the Pride Edition Nike Sport Band cost $49.
